ABOUT US

Docteur (Latin: doctor, from docere, to teach)

Someone who publicly teaches religious doctrines, who is an expert in religious matters; this term was used to refer to the leading figures in scholasticism.

A person who has earned one of the highest academic degrees (such as a PhD) conferred by a university.

Fétiche (Portuguese: feitiço, spell, charm; from Latin facticius, unnatural)

  1.  A cultural object to which supernatural, beneficial properties are attributed for its owner. Synonyms: amulet - charm - mascot - lucky charm - talisman
  2. An animal that is believed to bring good luck to its owner.

A person's identity is a complex synthesis of their past, culture, and how they see themselves in relation to others. To avoid disrupting the existing quo, society's expectations of conduct can occasionally compel us to adopt a false persona. A watered-down version of ourselves that is deemed presentable to the outside world, devoid of default and fully conforming to others' expectations.

Most of the time, clothing makes a first impression; how you dress determines how you’re treated. That is why uniforms hold such a strong cultural meaning around the world; they dictate who belongs and who doesn't.  DOCTEUR FÉTICHE aims to redefine or subvert the meaning of those codes and create a wardrobe for people who struggle to fit into traditional norms. We are a sanctuary for those who don't want to blend in with the crowd. It's the promise of persistent experimenting with various handcraft techniques, textiles, and dyes. A resolute effort to protect & re-assert ourselves in a world that is always trying to put everyone in a box.

Authenticity

A promise to remain true to our vision of what fashion can be. To stay authentic to our values and never sell ourselves short.

Sustainability

We strive to build a future where the people at the bottom of the supply chain can enjoy the same benefits as the people at the top. Where garment production does not mean waste and landfills.

Transparency

Our clients deserve the right to know where our garments are produced, who is actually sewing them and how do we deal with the waste resulting from our activities. They should also be informed of what textile they are wearing and how to take care of it.

We want the brand to offer the highest level of craftsmanship to our customers by working with indigenous & local artisans around the world.

We aim to preserve traditional techniques while introducing a new wave of innovation to the industry. This is achieved by being actively involved in our production chain and controlling every aspect of it without the need for third-party involvement.

We are entirely opposed to exploitation and overconsumption; we vow to provide fair remuneration to all of our future workers.
