Neo-zulu exhibition: a dive into our brand universe

Last July, we had the chance to organize a 2-day exhibition in the center of Montreal. For the occasion, we carefully curated a selection of projects that we produced over the past 3 years.

The theme of the exhibition was based on our design philosophy, which we named "Neo-zulu." In short, it's about re-appropriating alternative spaces and resisting stereotypical ideals of blackness. That theme can also be associated with Afro-futurism, another genre that revolves around the same need to shape identity.

We started the event by hosting around 200 guests during the opening night. We had free food, a bar, and a live DJ mixing. It truly felt amazing to present our work to that many people while explaining our design references.

We had our garments hanging from the ceiling, giving the impression that they moved when the lights would shine on them.

The installations ranged from photography, film, music, fashion, hair, textiles & research.

For the occasion, we partnered with a talented hair artist. She was tasked to produce those beautiful wigs and hair displays that we scattered all around the space.

We tasked everyone who attended the opening night to follow the theme and dress accordingly. Fashion for us is not only a way to communicate but also to identify with people who share the same values.

We are grateful for all the support we gathered during those two days. It was a pleasure to have our guest come and look at our clothes in person. We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who volunteered to help set up this exhibition.
